Permanent (5xx)
SES: General (Permanent)
AWS SES generic permanent bounce
AWS SES's catch-all bounce subtype for a permanent failure that doesn't fit a more specific category - usually maps back to a 550-class SMTP response from the receiving server.
Common causes
- Receiving server rejected the message with a permanent SMTP error SES couldn't classify more specifically.
What to do
- →Check the bounce event's diagnosticCode field for the underlying raw SMTP response, and suppress the address - SES already flags it as permanent.
